Twitter

In the first technology class Twitter was nto something I saw as very valuable. Having used it so much through out this course and gaining so many valuable resources, I am amazed. Not only am I amazed at how much you actually learn from a simple 140 word post of another individual but with the ease at which you can post.

Ed chats are fantastic ways to gain valuable information from numerous "techy" people. I plan to continue to participate in them at least once a month if not more for the simple fact that technology is evolving constantly and ed chats are a simple way to stay in the know.

I don't follow anyone famous, and in fact the most interesting people I do follow are educators. I have found that educators (especially those who live in Nebraska) offer so much information about how to obtain better technology through out my district. It's great to have educators in other states and even countries but it's extremely valuable to know that districts right across the road are struggling with this technology or that their district was able to obtain Ipads for all of their students due to xyz.

I will continue to utilize Twitter more for professional use than anything else.

Richard Byrne: You must check him out!!

This man is incredible! The wealth of knowledge that he is able to share through his blog with other educators is fantastic. His blog is very easy to navigate, and I found many great resources. When first entering his blog it was indeed overwhelming, and I wasn't sure that I would like how much he had going on his page but after sometime spent investigating I found a few things that wouldn't necessarily be for my students but I would love to share with other educators.

Most recently he blogged about kikutext, a service that allows parents to receive a text from their school or classroom about recent happenings. As a soon to be parent I know that I would love to have this for my daughter, and even more as an educator. Parents are so busy and pencil and paper isn't the most efficient way to get into contact or communicate with parents anymore. If a parent was able to see a text message from their school communication would improve greatly between students, teachers, and most importantly parents!

A resource that I shared with colleagues is the Unseen Titanic gallery by National Geographic. With testing being so heavy these next few weeks this is a resource that students are able to explore quietly and keep interest in after finishing their test, or out in the hallway. Most teachers won't have time to go into full detail about the happenings of this event but the gallery (which I recommend viewing) is a fantastic visual presentation that students would understand!Richard Byrne Click Here!

Curriculum Video

A video that will help my students review numerals 1-10, counting aloud through 20 and one to one correspondence.

Screencast

My students have access to the school Ipads that we use weekly. This will be a simple video for them to use while working independently during work (station) time.

What happens in Preschool?

What happens in Preschool?

The video I created is going to be used for a transition video for students coming into preschool from the birth-3 program! It is a great resource for parents to transition their children into preschool, and it provides parents who are leaving preschool (a possible end of the year video?) a few tips, tricks and ideas straight from Dr. Jeans mouth!

I could use this great program in the classroom for multiple things: our weekly themes, letter recognition, teaching routines, sharing what happens in preschool during home visits. The list is endless!

Apple in the Classroom

I read a great article for my multimedia graduate course, the article focused on how a school in Utah used apple in their classrooms. I summarize the article above. Check it out!
